Vitafont® Shungite Water History
In 2011 we started our company for the only one purpose – produce special bottled water that will be fresh, clean, delicious, and most importantly provide deep hydration and cleansing the human body. For us, as an independent and family-owned company, it was not an easy task to achieve, but we did it with the help of Shungite.
About Shungite
Shungite is a rare, black mineraloid that is formed during the Precambrian era time, more than 600 million years ago. It was first found near Shunga village in Karelia, Russia, from where it gets its name. There are three known grades of Shungite that have various concentrations of organic carbon:
A. Shungite Grade I (Elite or Noble Shungite) contains up to 98 % of organic carbon with a shiny silver luster.
B. Shungite Grade II (Black Shungite) has a deep black color and contains 50 to 70% of organic carbon.
C. Shungite Grade III (Gray Shungite) has a dull grayish color and contains 30 to 50% of organic carbon.
Also, besides carbon Shungite contains a lot of different elements such as iron, aluminum, titanium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, potassium, and silicate minerals, just to name a few, but the most important part is that Shungite have a unique combination of carbon and silicates that define bactericidal properties of the stone.
Shungite Healing Properties
Shungite stone healing abilities have been recorded in the late XVI century when Peter the Great’s great-grandmother was cured of an illness by the water from the spring near the lake Onega in Russian Karelia, about 240 miles northeast of St. Petersburg. Peter the Great also experienced extraordinary healing abilities of Shungite water after noticing that his men who drank water from a nearby spring, which ran through the shungite deposit, recovered faster than normal from illness or injury, and in 1719 he constructed a spa resort named “Marcial Waters”. Also, he initiates the use of Shungite stones for water purification and wound healing for the Russian army.
In 1985 the mystery about the unique abilities of Shungite was solved by two American chemists Richard E. Smalley and Robert F. Curl, Jr., and an English chemist Sir Harold W. Kroto by discovering a new molecular form of carbon, called “fullerene”. Their discovery leads to a Nobel Prize in 1996.
Fullerenes are known for their ability to conduct electricity, in addition to other unusual chemical properties. The higher percentage of carbon have higher fullerene content. By all means, Shungite is an extraordinary stone and has many health benefits. Shungite is the only natural mineral that contains fullerenes. Fullerenes also may be used for drug delivery systems in the body, in lubricants, as antiviral agents and catalysts. This use is provided by its unique molecular structure, powerful long-lasting anti-oxidant effect, and biological compatibility. Also, Fullerene is used as an anti-aging and anti-damage agent in the cosmetic industry.
